Playful little boy visitor

For over four years now, my family has lived with a visitor/spirit (?) that we believe is a little boy. He seems to be playful & non threatening; he is active mostly in the late afternoon & evenings from what we've noticed.
The first time I noticed anything odd, was after I played hide and go seek with my son (he was about 4 yrs. old at the time) one morning, soon after I put my son down for his a.m. nap & then went into the kitchen to do some cleaning up. While standing at the kitchen sink, I heard what sounded like a young childs voice behind me say,'Do you want to play?'. Although this voice didn't sound like my sons, I replied by saying something like, 'Go take your nap, we'll play later'. I then immediately turned around to find no one standing behind, then I walked to my sons room only to find him fast asleep.
Soon after that, on many occasions, I saw what appeared to be a little boy (8 yr.old (?), white male, brown hair,wearing a red/white striped t-shirt, blue shorts, & bare foot)running from our living room area into my sons room - I wasn't scared, but just sort of shocked, mostly because I knew my son wasn't home nor was anybody else except me. I never mentioned any of my experiences to my son (didn't want to scare him)or my husband (he is very much a skeptic regarding anything 'supernatural' or 'paranormal'). Later that week, all of us sat down to dinner in our dining room, when all of the sudden I saw the little boy run past our dinner table! My son yelled 'Wow, he sure is fast!', & then my husband said, 'Oh, you saw him too?' - I about choked on my dinner! After dinner was over, I asked my husband what he thought he saw, & he stated that he's seen a little boy in a red & white shirt, many times playing in our house. A few times while reading a bed time story to my son at night, his toys in his toy box move around (not just a little rattle, but it sounds like someone is trying to dig through the box), the first few times this happend I went to investigate, & my son would say to me,'Don't worry Mom, it happens alot'. I have witnessed along with my family, my sons' toy planes moving on their own, along the floor & on shelves. We didn't have any rats, mice, or insect infestation, & there were no recent tremors - so what could be causing this on an almost nightly basis? This amazed me, the fact that my family didn't seem worried or concerned enough about these strange happenings to even mention anything to me! One morning after my husband took my son to the park, I decided to make a batch of cookies, within minutes I heard a voice right next to me,what sounded like the voice I believe to be the little boys', saying 'Whatcha doing?'& then a giggle - this was really starting to freak me out! When my husband got home with my son, I pulled him aside & told him what I heard, & asked him if he thought I was losing my mind. My husband said he has never heard any voice, but he believed the little boy just hangs around because he feels comfortable in our home, he also told me he didn't think I was crazy (thats always a good thing in my book!).
This kind of stuff has gone on for years now, we've actually gotten used to seeing the boy, & we're not worried about him becoming a threat. He's not one to play tricks (so far), but he does have an obvious interest in my sons' toys.
