Cheap rent / bad idea
Submitted by Happier Now
Years ago, I rented a home with my husband that had alot of unexplained activity. Yet we thought it was a great deal due to the cheap rent, & good location - it was a cute little house with a picket fence. From the day we moved in we had strage things happen. Often times, in our master bedrm. we would hear breathing, & what sounded like a conversation going on. In the kitchen, many times objects placed in the middle of the kitchen table (such as a vase of flowers,& holiday decor) would fall to the floor, when no one was in the immediate area. I had jewelry that would go missing for days end up in strage places; next to the toilet on the floor, on the kitchen stove, & a few times they (cheap earrings) were found in my china cabinet. There were a few times I came home from work to find the front door wide open, & the t.v. on.
In the beginning of all of this, we tried to blame eachother, but after discussing the matters & trying to 'debunk' them, we still had no answer. One night both of us woke up to what felt like someone/thing kicking the underneath of the bed & shaking it violently - it scared us so badly we moved into the guest bedrm. for a week. Many times our radio alarm clock would go off prior to the time it was set for, so we unplugged it. Twice, in a few days time, the same clock turned on & started playing music, meanwhile it was unplugged & had no batteries in it. There were so many numerous happenings there that were unpleasant & scary.
New Years Eve night we decided to take it easy, no partying accept at home with my brother (sounds pretty dull, but all of us had to work early the next morning). Earlier we had bought a few bottles of champagne & vodka, just to make all present happy. While sitting off the kitchen, in the family rm. I asked my husband & brother which bottle they would like to open first - all of the sudden there was a big crashing sound, & the champagne bottles bounced onto the floor, across the kitchen to us! All three of us freaked out; the weirdest part was that the bottles never broke, in fact they kind of bounced in slow motion towards us.
Months later I was put on swing shift at my job, I had to come home to an empty house alone. This wouldn't have bothered me, except for the fact that I noticed more strange things in that house. Drawer handles/pulls would rattle on my sidebar by themselves, the chain metal screen in the fireplace would rock & make a 'clinking' sound - there was nothing to explain this to me while I was trying to be logical; no winds, no earthquakes, no one opening doors.
The final straw was when my husband & I came home from work one day & found the hairdryer going, & the gas stove in the kitchen had all burners on - this freaked us out, we knew that this was not something positive.
While having a moving sale, a neighbor approached us with some details about the house history - there was a tragic murder, & suicide that took place in the home a decade before we came along.
I am not trying to state that every home that has a bad past is 'haunted'; certainly not. I think maybe that (the history) had a bit to do with some of the negative activity at that particular home. For awhile I thought this experience could be chalked up to poltergeist; whatever it was/is, I am glad I no longer live there, and that I no longer have to deal with it! Just because it's cheap to rent, doesn't necessarily mean its a good deal!
Thanks for letting me vent!
Sorry about the bad spelling! |
