Curses are perhaps alot to do with whether you believe in them, that seems to power them, almost like voodoo

Check out this link HERE! Hope that helps!

Hey, nice to meet you, um, I dont believe in Curses, I believe in Evil forces following you, which are the ones that also cause "Bad Luck" sometimes haha, this reminds me of that previous story basead on the dudley town in conneticut, people dont know if it's cursed or not, but that's a nice example of what someone would consider cursed, research on it.

I would agree with that, there was this one time in high school during study hall class around Halloween,
(bare with me hear folks)
Our teacher Mr Davis, (a really cool guy) asked us "who believes in witches and curses?"
Less than half the kids raised their hands (I of course was one of the few who did)
He told us of how curses my be no more then the power of suggestion with this tale of a old Hag/woman
who moved to a small village (during the 17 - 1800's) and shortly after the farmers crops went bad or
the cows dried up or something unfortunate happened to one of the village families.
So being new to the Village they accuse the old lady of being a witch, but when the people of the village go to confront her
she quickly replies with "if you try to harm me, all their crops will die and their offspring will be borne sickly".
So instead of burning her at the cross they treat her with food and gifts in fear of her curse.

I believe curses are powers of suggestion and used to frighten and or control.

I once had some people put a voodoo doll on my rearview mirror with a pin stuck through the heart area and this frightened me very much but as time went on I decided it was meant to frighten and so I threw the doll away and forgot about it.
I refused to let these people who were angry at me have control over my life.

Curses seem to be more of a state of mind... although I have heard of some bizarre curses...

For instance, my family line traced back on the maternal side leads to a big estate in Somerset. There was 1 brother and 6 sisters. The house was supposedly cursed upon the death of the first son and thereafter, the house was passed from sister to sister each dying soon after inheriting the house. The last sister, Ethel, was killed in a fire that destroyed the entire house... how strange is that???

Although Im not a believer in the O'Hare curse... just a set of coincidences..... I hope sad.gif

i believe the curse can be a strong weapon in the hands of the wrong person...
why...? because our thoughts have the power that we're not aware of...

This happened back in the 70's. the doll was made by two ex-wives of a man I knew and they recruited my teenaged daughter at the time to help them make the doll and put the curse on me because the Two Ex-wives wanted to get rid of me and my teen-aged daughter wanted to get the man out of my life.
No I never had any heart problems so far but who knows what the future will hold, but whatever happens I don't think the doll will have caused anything it had its effect by putting fear into me.

Very true Chase,
I'm with you on that,
Until you have proof, that can't be written off as a coincidence or be explained,
I'm not going to believe one way or the other that there are paranormal happenings.

It was just teen age things and her not wanting another man to come into our life to take away her seat of power.

Curses are very real I can asure you kids. A few ours agao I was helping a friend move and I smashed my finger between the truck and a sofa and all kinds of curses came flying out of my mouth and I have witnesses to prove it so yes...they really do exist. laugh.gif

Ok, seriously I agree with what most say and thats its in the head. Ive actually had a few people try it on me before and I laughed at them and nothing ever ended up happening so I take it with a grain of salt.

For the sake of the board if anyone would care to put a curse on me please feel free. laugh.gif

You and all your hilarity!!
Curses!!!

Ok... i'm done.
I don't believe in curses.
I've heard a lot about them because a sort-of relative used to be really into things like that and i could just never bring myself to believe that bad things happen to someone because someone else says so. Now actions are a different story...

Tutankhamen-like Curse Killed Nepal's Royal Family?
Thursday 09th of August 2007

One of the most gripping tales to have captured public imagination is the legend of Tutankhamen's curse, the superstition that the mummy of Egypt's boy-king took its revenge on the violators of its tomb, causing the death of the British excavators who discovered the grave in 1923.

Though the tales petered out in the 80s, after the woman who was the last link to the expedition died, a similar myth has now sprung up in Nepal, still regarded as a mysterious land that opened up to the outside world only in 1950.

According to Nepal's tabloid press, a secret room in a temple in western Nepal wields similar power, and could be responsible for the massacre of Nepal's royal family in 2001 as well as the sudden death of a parliamentarian recently.

More than two centuries ago, the forefather of the present King Gyanendra, swooped down on Kathmandu valley from the tiny kingdom of Gorkha in western Nepal and began annexing the neighbouring principalities.

The old palace still stands in Gorkha, protected by the temple of Gorkhakali, the goddess of war and power.

Like many old temples in Nepal, the Gorkhakali shrine has a 'vayu kotha' - a secret room said to contain dangerous powers and kept locked.

Though worshippers are forbidden to enter the secret room, the late queen, Aishwarya, ordered the lock to be forced open and entered it in May 2001, the Jana Aastha tabloid reported.

A week later, the queen, while attending a dinner party with family members, was gunned down along with king Birendra, three of their children, and other relatives, reportedly by her eldest son crown prince Dipendra who also perished in the infamous midnight massacre.

The scared temple authorities boarded up the room once again only to be commanded to re-open it last month, which was once again followed by death, the tabloid said.

Last month, a team of parliamentarians went to Gorkha as part of its mandate to visit Nepalese prisons and advise the government how to improve them.

The tabloid said that the head of the team, Dilli Raj Sharma, went to the temple where the priest told him about queen Aishwarya's visit.

An intrigued Sharma then reportedly asked the priest to have the door of the secret room forced open once again so that he could go inside.

By evening, Sharma, who had reportedly told his peers that he was in the best of health, had a sudden heart attack and died while he was being rushed to hospital.

'A coincidence connects the queen and the legislator,' the Nepalese tabloid said.

Scores of chilling legends, especially about the royal family, abound in Nepal.

The most repeated one is about how Prithvi Narayan Shah, the warrior king who had begun expanding his kingdom from Gorkha, angered a holy man with supernatural powers, Gorakhnath.

The sage cursed Shah, saying his dynasty would end after the 10th king.

Birendra, who died in the June 1, 2001 assassination along with his entire family, was the 10th king of the Shah dynasty.

Man returns 'cursed' carving
22/08/2007 20:03 - (SA)

Cairo - A German has handed in a package containing part of a Pharaonic carving to Egypt's embassy in Berlin, with a note saying his stepfather had suffered a "curse of the Pharaohs" for stealing it, Egypt said on Wednesday.

The note said the man felt obliged to return the carving to make amends for his late stepfather and enable his soul to rest in peace, Egypt's Supreme Council for Antiquities said.

The stepfather had stolen the piece while on a visit to Egypt in 2004 and on his return to Germany suffered paralysis, nausea, unexplained fevers and cancer before dying recently, the anonymous man said in the note.

The Egyptian embassy in Berlin had sent the fragment back to Egypt by diplomatic pouch and it had been handed over to the Supreme Council for Antiquities, where a committee of experts was trying to ascertain its authenticity, the statement said.

The belief in a curse that strikes down anyone who disturbs the tombs or mummies of ancient Egypt's Pharaohs has been around since the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922 and the subsequent death of the excavation's financier Lord Carnarvon.
