The origin of an entity (human vs. inhuman) must be discerned prior to making recommendations to a client. Knowing the entities origin is imperative otherwise your "recommendation" may cause the phenomena to worsen. A proper investigation should always be conducted prior to making recommendations (i.e. telling the client to confront the entity). Failure to do so, (in my opinion) is grossly negligent.

I agree. If the activity is often enough or worrisome enough for a person to seek assistance or ask questions of a paranormal investigator, an investigation should always be done beforehand.
