...from The Sun newspaper, so take it with a pinch o' salt...

'A SCHOOLBOY has captured eerie footage of what he claims is a ghost striding towards banisters at his home...'

Curious
The video doesn't sit well with me, but I'll play devil's advocate devil.gif ....

Of course there are people who will think it is the shadow of somebody behind him walking. I then ask, if this were the shadow of someone behind him, wouldn't his shadow be obvious as well?

Greygoat
Still quite possible; it just means the second person was not directly behind the cameraman thus allowing the two shadows to be well separated.

It's possible they are recreating the old victorian parlor trick of making a see-thu image appear by illuminating someone, bouncing it off glass and filming the result? Seems a bit suspish to me, but the kids reaction seems pretty genuine. Just glad we don't have 'smell-o-vision' laugh.gif

it looks like what i have seen in the past so i tend to believe him....if proved unexplainable then i am impressed by this catch xx
Sir JGP
I have watched this a few times now and there is one little thing that makes me think it is a fake.

The shadow appears to walk as was as the banister and stops, a second after it stops the camera is
panned away to the left as if to get the shadow out of shot.

To me this would appear that who ever it was that was making the shadow could not go any further, if a ghost
then it could go where ever it liked.
His reaction is great and that adds to make one think it could be real but i doubt it.

I think its real, there is clearly the white mist like thing followed by a black one. Definitely not a shadow or reflection of any sort, in the part of the house the mother and son were filming in; it doesn't seem like they have the type of lighting that would cast shadows around like that at all. But then again thats just my opinion from what I saw in the clip.

Thanks for sharing that with us Gigan thumbsup.gif

You know, I was gonna go with you Sir JPG; you had, still have in fact, made a good point. The camera does seem to pan to the left too fast... You have a very discerning eye.

But I kept on viewing, and I'm now wavering... I actually think that there are two 'ghosts' now.

Notwithstanding the source, (The Sun Newspaper,) I think there could be something here. She goes, (Ithink it's a she) toward the banister, and appears to me to 'swerve' gracefully around a curve, in fact the other side of the banister, and then seems to enter another room.

I say this because the light that meets her seems to come from a 'ghostly door' that opens, just the other side of the banister; and furthermore, it looks like another person meets her face to face at that door. Oh, and she has a long plait down the centre of her shoulder blades imho.

What does bother me about this video is the fact that the child is videoing, apparently, nothing, at the top of the stairs... and I asked myself why? He also appears to be seeking his mother, from what he says on tape...

I agree with the_reader about the lighting. I don't think it would cast a shadow but I'm very open to others opinions... It's very interesting anyway.

Great thread gigan. Thanks.
