Hello Ghost Mysteries Members -

My name is Matt Haas, and I currently live on Long Island, NY. I am 29 years old and have been intrigued by the Paranormal all my life. It runs in my family, and the more involved I get the moe interest I gain for it. Anyway, the reason for this post is I plan on starting my own Paranormal Society called L.I.P.S. What does this stand for? The Long Island Paranormal Society! In all honesty, I am starting from the ground up. I'm seeking other people who are near my area who might have the same interest in starting a group/society on Long Island. My goals right now are to look for other people seeking the same, get a group together, set a home base, have meetings on a frequent monthly basis, gather research in the Paranormal field, do some investigations in the local area ect;

I'm looking for serious, hard working, responsible people who'd like to volunteer and make this happen. I have had some feedback from other sites such as UM, TAPS and have a few interested. I would like to attract a few more people to make a good start. My current plan is to run things from my small apartment and hold meetings every now and then there as well. There are no groups on Long Island, it would be cool in itself to be the first group created on Long Island. Remember I am starting from the ground up. We all have to start somewhere in life when building something right?

I think establishing a group first and contacts is a good start. Get to know one another, and see who has skill in what areas to perform investigations ect;.

If you anyone is interested, please Email me at M76JHaas@Hotmail.com

Or wish to contact me by chat, page me using AOL/AIM - thebiggapple1287 s/n
Or Yahoo Messenger - Savatage360

Only serious people apply...

I'm looking for people who are really into the paranormal and want to investigate hauntings and paranormal activity for the science and evidence. I'm tired of evidence being debunked and want a group to be as real as possible...

Thanks

Matt Haas

that's a nice try bro and dont wanna let you down, but if I lived near you I still wouldnt join you, let's take for example that I do join you, in the first week we do have a meeting, and it goes bad ass and get to know each other etc, by the third week we probably have told each other everything that we've known and what's next? would WE be willing to travel the country just to look for ghosts? and I know about this, you can go to 6 dif cities and look and look and look and with a lot of luck you might find something that no one else will believe and through a lot of time you yourself will forget, not just that, people your age have jobs and probably wives and stuff, if you wanna get someone who'll stick by you through this and not quit out of a sudden, you need someone with a lot of free time or someone who just doesnt care about their responsibilities therefore wont care about your L.I.P.S, My suggestion, my friend is, to have something to show, something nice, something someone who wanted to start a group of ghost-finders couldnt show that easily.

Good Luck man, Believe in yourself and You'll make it.

Well first off I would just like to say good luck with L.I.P.S. original.gif I have just recently joined with a realtivley new group in my area named bbhproductionz. Me and my wife have been with them a little over a couple of months now and I have to say its incredible. It does require a great deal of time and effort from every member, but it is well worth it. The only advice I can give is be patient. Given time and hard work your group will come around. Again good luck with everything. Keep in contact with us as you continue to grow.

I take my hat off to anyone who takes the initiative to step up and start the ball rolling on a project. I think that most people would look at this as a hobby, and so would be able to fit it around work and personal matters. It would'nt be a bad idea to build up a nucleus of members who are trustworthy and can take over the reigns if you are unable to participate in something. The only thing I will say, and this comes from seeing it so many times, is remember its a hobby, not a way of life. there are groups out there who take things personally if you 'muscle in' on their 'patch', and I have even seen these people try and poach members from other groups to join theirs. I have seen them joining their message boards to sabotage and defame everyone and everything, ease up! yes.gif It should be interesting, yes.gif informative, yes.gif objective, yes.gif but don't also forget FUN! thumbsup.gif I myself an starting a group in Illinois (although anyone is welcome to join from anywhere). Its a small thing that will hopefully have some field investigations and what not, but I am not trying to do anything that I know I can't cope with (check out my yahoo group in my sig if you want to check it out).

My 2 cents

Good luck with L.I.P.S. I look forward to reading what you get up to!

Thats a shame man, I mean these groups should all work together... I mean they are researching the same thing and have the same aim... where would science be now if every scientist was like "Get off my Patch b****, Gravity and Cancer Research is MINE!"

Exactly that, I have had a run in myself with one particular group (who shall remain nameless). I was verbally attacked on one of their forums for voicing my opinion, and because it did'nt fit in with their ideals, they shot me down all over the place. It certainly does'nt look professional. I am still a member on the message board, and for curiosity I logged on a couple of days ago only to find some other poor soul getting torn a new corn chute. How are we meant to present ourselves and our findings convincingly when this kind of behaviour is rampant???

anyway, I digress lol! laugh.gif

LOL, thats interesting to hear though man, it just shows to me that to some people this is a hobby rather then a scientific interest. I mean thats hardly a very professional way of going about things is it?

No wonder people have a hard time finding the truth if this is the way they are treated...

I could'nt agree more. Thats why on the few occasions I get to go out 'into the field' I usually take 2 or 3 people along. You don't have to be a part of a group thats huge. If there is a only couple of you that enjoy ghost hunting, why spoil it? Once you start getting into larger groups, well you become sibject to rules, regulations, and all that kind of jazz.

Well said Gigan... The whole process after all should be an enjoyable one too, I think its about time people stopped treating it like some tribal patch where people compete, and as a science that needs real investigation.

It seems to me that very few scientific institutions are willing to put money into the study of the paranormal, so it is up to us to research it ourselves and make the relevant moves to encourage scientific research in this area...
Gigan
I know that the whole thing of 'parapsychology' is looked on as being pretty hokey by the scientific community, but I believe there are a couple of places that do have classes in this field. I personally think that it should be included as an avenue of 'official' learning along with any other science, after all, a couple of hundred years ago we would never dream of the things we have to day, and what we have discovered and achieved. I believe that the paranormal is just something else we have'nt quite begun to understand properly yet....
Chase
I couldnt agree more Gigan... look at Witchcraft in the 16th centuries when people couldn't explain simple things like crop failure or biological infections... Im sure we will understand the paranormal one day, not for a while, but one day perhaps... Still we got a whole universe to understand so who knows if we ever will...
