Out of curiosity, has anyone had any use for a fingerprinting kit on investigations?

For example a person reports prints showing up on the inside of their windows when there's no one around.

The Arizona based paranormal investigation group I was briefly involved with had such a case and just as an idea, I picked up a fingerprinting kit.

Has anyone else had any experiences where that kind of thing came up or was used?

It would certainly be interesting to find out if the prints - if any - belonged toa living person or dead. Of course identifying the person this way is difficult if the person doesn't already have a criminal record.

Well, based on the case description I was given, my idea was to clean the glass window/door to ensure there were no fingerprints on it, then contain a small area around it and set up a camera in one corner to record any type of movement or disturbance(also good for catching total fakers)and leave it out of sight.

Continue on with the investigation of the house itself but return at random points to check the camera, if it had been moved or stopped and restarted.

If the camera had not been messed with then I would check the glass to see if there were any new prints, if so then Iwould get the kit out and procure a sample, if not..oh well, can't blame a girl for trying!

sounds intresting, but i don't think that it would really work. I don't believe that ghosts have fingerprints because they are not totally present in the physical world. We can see them, hear them, etc, but i don't think that it would be possible for a ghost to leave fingerprints behind.

If you can find something, i will to totally be blown away.

SUMMARY:
This small but very active home was probably one of the most active places we had been. I loved it and wish we would have filmed a special all night stay here. God knows we would have had amazing things happen. I mostly searched for evps and took rolls of film. While I only got a couple good pics, not much to see except the form on the top of the stairs and the chandelier swaying. Plenty of EVPs but I wish I would have setup some cameras in different rooms and tried a few more experiments to establish contact. The problem is we only had 2 hours in this place for our investigation and if we had more I am sure we would have gotten plenty more to talk about as active as it was. One of the top most haunted places I have visited.

No Jim Morrison here, but one heck of a place filled with Paranormal activity. I felt many different forms of energy. Place memory, spiritual energy in various genders, male, female, child. In the child’s room I had my hand swiped while holding the tape player and knocked it out of my hand. I was startled and jumped up. On tape I got an evp saying either "eww its dark" or "duck." Reviewing the film you can see a large puffy white orb fly right through my chest towards the camera as I start talking to the camera on what just happened. I felt this might have been one of the child ghosts playing.

I noticed some fingerprints in the Childs room on the ledge that seemed to show prints of a child as if she was lifting herself up on her tip toes to see over the ledge and what remained were her prints in the dust.

I felt some disturbed and confused energy as well as saw some red lights appear on the floor in a room across the hall, I yelled at the camera man to hurry up to film it but by the time he got the camera it was gone. Gail had earlier that she had seen some tinkle bell lights on a wall and fly across the room. It scared her enough to leave the house and wait outside. This was caught on video but the director believed it might have been a reflection off of Gail’s earrings. I beg to differ and would have to review the tape further before I come to my own conclusion. AS the footage I saw while in the house looked promising to me and similar to forms I have seen before. The chandelier was swaying back and forth and I got photos of that. When I went outside to the use the odd house I felt like I was watched all the way there and back. Not a comfortable feeling. Was as if we were not supposed to be here.

Face caught with flashlight on the video was later determined to be the tour guide, why no one caught that in edit I don’t know. Ghosts normally don’t show solid form and if a flashlight was cast on it, I personally believe, it would have gone through it not bounced off and displayed a shadow. So this part can be debunked as just the tour guide you see seconds later peeking up the stairs.

The most dramatic was when the director and I were the only ones upstairs and we were making our way towards the stairs. I was ahead of her and as I approached the stairs I felt a rush of an energy (I will say ghost) shoot towards me from the back and I quickly turned around to take a picture. As I did this second after the director Maria screamed and ran down the stairs. It seemed she was shoved and instead of it hitting me it went after her instead. This startled her so much she had to leave the house and we had to wrap up production even though I would have liked to spend the night. I would love to go back to this house and spend the night with a film crew and investigation team and see what we come up with. Very active place! The ghosts hear don’t want anyone around at nighttime. It is their home!

it was on a show. It was the Unexplained Mysteries show that used to be on. the guy owned a house where there was a "bad" spirit of a little girl who didn't like him so what she used to do is scratch him and make him bleed. When some investigators came, sometimes during the night the man would get sensations of someone scratching him on different parts of his body and sure enough there were scratches. When they went to a room where it was supposted to be her "domain", the man experienced the sensations again on his back and there was "Out" written on his back.

i think i remember that one , it was a very interesting show.

i used to love watching it but then it was just taken off the air so that was a bit of a downer

Not sure if this would work or not as fingerprints are left behind due to our skin oils and sweat glands. Interesting thought either way. I wonder if anyone has ever tried this and ruled it out? I googled it but came up with nothing.
