Message from beyond the grave?
A PSYCHIC from Widnes says he might have been telephoned by a ghost.

By Jeremy Craddock

James Byrne, a well-known medium who once gave demonstrations at the London Palladium, is used to spirits interfering with technology associated with him.

But this latest case is perhaps the strangest yet, he says.

He discovered the message on his answerphone when he returned from holiday in August. The message - a man saying is this switched on?' - had been left on August 7, according to James's machine.

There was no number recorded, but the phone has the facility to return the call.

James, aged 53, of Mansell Close, says: "A woman in Bolton answered, and when I explained who I was, she said I'd done a reading for her 14 years earlier. She said she'd not made the phone call."

The mystery deepened when James told the woman about the message and, after hearing the recording, she confirmed it was the voice of her partner who had died in June.

James says the woman contacted BT to check her phone records, and they confirmed that no call had been made to James's number from her line on August 7.

"We can't explain it," says James. "I'm not saying it's a ghost or an example of EVP (electronic voice phenomena said to be the work of spirits). But it is very strange."

James became aware he was psychic as a teenager and went on to become a very well known stage medium, making frequent television and radio appearances, and published a book, The Psychic World of James Byrne.

There have been examples of James appearing on television and radio shows where the sound equipment has faltered for no reason.

On another occasion he was giving a reading to a woman and was recording the session. Only later, when the woman listened to the tape, did she hear the voice of a foul-mouthed spirit.

James said: "Once I was driving with somebody else in the car, with the radio on. Suddenly - and from nowhere - a voice on the radio clearly said 'James Byrne'.

"That's one of the best examples, because somebody independent of me heard it.

"But how do you prove this answerphone message? You can't."

You can listen to the message left on the answering machine at the SOURCE

I wish it hadn't been left on a psychics answering machine. No offence to any psychics out there, it's just that it lends a certain "cheesiness" factor to the story. In my opinion anyways. (Rosemary's gonna beat me up for that sad.gif sorry Rose) I wasn't going to post it because of that, but then I figured what the hell, it's cool to listen to a possible phone call from a ghost, psychic or no psychic tongue.gif
The only thing I can really make out in the message is "switched on". How the woman recognized her partners voice in that mess is beyond me... unless he was known to mumble alot in a gravely tone...

Its perfectly alright for you to write like that it doesn't offend me.
I'm thinking if he said is this thing switched on and she heard the words it could have been spoken quite clearly.

Its possible the Spirit could have just spoken on the answering machine and I never went through the Switchboard apparatus.

But speaking about Rosemary and what she has written here which no one much believes I sent an E-Mail to Bob Larson the Exorcist telling him my plight and asking him to help and this morning I had an E-Mail back from his group and it said his ministeries is looking for people with a possession problem to appear in a film about Exorcisms and I responded and I am hoping he will pick me to do this so I can prove once and for all whether a Deliverance Minister can force the Spirits out of my body and if he can I want to know what happens to them once they leave my body.

Sorry if I got off topic here but someone did mention my name in the above and I thought that gave me an opening to report on my latest efforts to solve my problem and get someone to believe me as a Psychic Channel.

Rosemary, good luck with Mr. Larson.

Luna, I agree it would be very hard to identifya person from that garbled message.

Thank you.
I have already received an E-Mail back from Mr. Larsons Casting producer of his new show asking for my Phone Number and so we will see how that works out.
After I learn how it goes I will no doubt write about this again.
I am hoping it works because I am becoming more desperate each day to solve this problem since these Spirits are keeping me up day and night.
And the abuse is becoming almost unbearable.

That's a very interesting story, anything is possible and it could be a spirit.

This is very interesting to me! My wife and I have both worked in the telephone industry for many years now and it is a more commonly reported phenomena than most people would imagine. I have heard of repair people being sent out to investigate what they suspect is a case of 'cross-talk' on the lines and finding nothing technically wrong with the telephone equipment or lines. Most telephone companies just write it off as some kind of quirk; they don't have a place on the repair logs for ghosts.

Now with the advent of more people using voicemail systems than home-based answering machines I wonder if the incidence of such paranormal recordings will decrease? Does the phenomena only directly influence the home-based machine or can it effect the Central Office based equipment? If it is actually influencing the twisted-pair circuit of the line itself then it demonstrates the properties of some sort of magnetic induction. Now with more and more circuits being given over to fiber-optics how will that effect the incidence rate of the phenomena? Fiber-optics are obviously not a good medium for certain electro-magnetic stimuli.

In my honest opinion this all comes back to the field of EVP research. It would seem to me that the same sort of incidents generally lumped under the EVP label could cover this as well. I wonder if there are any other 'Bellheads' or 'Phone Phreaks' out there who might know something about this?

I remember seeing something about this, I think it was on Montel? I didn't actually pay attention, but Sylvia Browne was on there as well.
Cheryl
Well, if Sylvia was involved I guess we have our answer as to the validity of this tale.
Guilty_By_Ignorance
Sylvia Brown is always on Montel

interesting theory.no way to prove it or disprove it. Im thinking to suggest homes for known paranormal activities to place answering machines there and see who calls in. Worth a shot.

Rosemary, good luck with Mr. Larson.
I think I can forget about any help from Mr. Larson since I filled out a long questionaire last summer and waited for a Response but none came.
Now I see he has hooked up with a movie making company in England and has many stories to tell about some of his subjects and how he drove the demons out.
But I would like to know what would happen if he took on my situation?
And why hasn't he agreed to try as promised when I contacted his group and filled out the Questionaire?
I would personally like to locate this Psychic mentioned here and give him links to some of the Stories I have published about my situation and see how he reacts to it.
Most Psychics I have contacted have not repsonded at all and I never hear about any bad experiences they have had and I wonder if its because they keep all the negative things covered up for fear it will take away from the profits they get when they interact with people and charge for their appearances and services?
I surely can't be the only Psychic Channell who has had a bad experience.
If they and I are going to call this Paranormal Research we must share all the experiences we have had both good and bad with the world.
