A poltergeist that has forced a terrified Carlisle family to flee their home is to be "cleansed" by a vicar.

Spooky happenings prompted Allison Marshall, 27, to bundle her family out of the house in Mardale Road, Raffles, in the middle of the night.

Carlisle Housing Association, which owns the property, has now arranged for a priest to step in and end the family's nightmare.

Allison and children Rebecca, three, Emily, four, Shannon, seven, and Aaron, eight, enduring a series of bizarre happenings at the house that has been her home for four years.

She and her children are now staying with her mother Lesley Whitewick, 46.

The drama began last week with a catalogue of inexplicable happenings, which included household objects hurtling around the room and sudden and unexplained drops in the temperature in the house.

They continued with the mysterious appearance of a skull image in a picture frame in a glass display cabinet and disturbing noises in the dead of night, including a child sobbing.

A family friend called in a clairvoyant, who claimed he saw the image of a child in a dressing gown.

Allison said: "I don't really want to leave the house so it would be better if they could do something to sort it out and get this thing out of my house. If they can't get rid of it I'll have to move."

In a statement, Carlisle Housing Association said: "Carlisle Housing Association takes any situation which is causing distress to its tenants seriously and will offer support and assistance where it can.

"Two members of CHA Housing Management team visited the tenant on Monday morning to assess the situation and also arranged for the local vicar to contact her separately.

"We appreciate the distress Miss Marshall has voiced and will continue to offer her our support."

Couldn't help but notice that none of the kids were over the age of 8. I was surprised that the housing association publicly announced that they were going to take the situation seriously.
I'll be on the lookout for any follow-up articles, but I'm thinking it's doubtful that there will be one. hmm.gif

It is interesting to hear of another poltergeist- I wonder if the other poltergeist cases in the last few decades have made the housing association take this seriously? The skull image sounds freaky- I've not heard of poltergeists producing images before.

good point Matt, normally the polty just throws tantrums and makes gross smells and noises...but images?
i would research it futher, but i'm lazy....
yet with the open and public statements being made by the housing company, i do tend to feel something NQR...

Sometimes the so called Polty is the Spirit of the Dead who is unhappy and in some cases angry and in some cases they can enter the body and become a possessing Spirit and in this case that doesn't seem to be the case, but nevertheless I am hoping to see further information on this which proves that the Preist was actually able to remove the tormented Spirit of the Dead from this home.

Hopefully they take this seriously because if they don't it is possible this unhappy child's spirit could be hanging around to take over the body of one of the children in the home.

I fear in the future this will be the case more often than not especially after the book written about Walk-In's which was Published by Paranormal Writer Ruth Montgomery in which she writes about Spirits from the Higher Realms of the Spirit World returning to earth to walk the Earth again in bodies that people on Earth are no longer treating with Respect.

In her book she writes that only a Guide can put a walk-in back on Earth, but in some cases the Spirits of the Dead could want to prove it on their own then they might venture into a body and refuse to leave unless a Priest proves he can remove them and in the meantime they can wreck havoc with a humans life and no one much will take them seriously.

I'd want to know more about the family -- isn't it kind of strange that it took four years for the poltergeist to come up? I mean, I know sometimes spirits lay dormant... but aren't they usually prompted out of their rest by sudden changes that they don't like?

We don't know how long this child has been dead, she could have died recently in an accident or even murder and somehow these people came to her attention and she followed them home.

Sometimes people who die suddenly have their spirit shocked out of their body and suddenly they don't know where they are and may not even know they are dead and so they roam around in confusion crying for their parents in this case.

The Spirit may mean no harm at all but may be there with the children and the mother where it feels safe and if this is the case it will not hurt them but may need to time to adjust to its new situation and after a time it will make friends with othes in the spirit world and go accept its life there and be quite happy but sometimes it takes time for them to reach this stage of development.

I gotta agree with Rosemary on this. Still, you can't blame the family for leaving. Most people, I included, don't really understand these things, and wouldn't know what to do if they DID understand.
