LIFE STYLE EXTRA (UK) - Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen have a telepathic bond.

Ashley has revealed the identical twins can sense what the other is feeling and thinking, even when they are apart.

She told Marie Claire magazine: "We both carry the weight of each other. Our bond is really beyond words. I know when she's hurting, I know when she's going through something. I know when she's happy - whether I'm with her or not."

Ashley graces the front page of the September issue of the magazine.

Editor Joanna Coles was extremely impressed with how the 21-year-old star has coped with fame from such a young age.

She said: "It's incredibly cool that she's come through everything that she has to be this very normal, grounded, sound young woman."

Despite their bond, it was revealed earlier this year that Mary-Kate will be breaking up their showbiz partnership to star in US TV show 'Weeds'.

Mary-Kate will play Tara, a devoted Christian teenager living in the religious community of Majestic who becomes the love interest of Silas, one of the central characters on the show.

She will star in at least 10 episodes, her first major acting role without her sister.

I can't say I'm much of a Olsen fan, but I've always been intrigued by the bond some twins seem to share. I think these two have spent sooooo much of their lifetime side by side, that it's not so hard to believe why they're so bonded. The word "weight" that Ashley used must be fairly accurate if the bond is as strong as she describes. Can you imagine having to carry your own stress and also the stress of someone else? On the up side, I guess you'd never feel truly alone. Actually, maybe that's not such an up side after all...

Oh god...
Well I guess since they've spent pretty much their whole lives together this makes sense.

My health teacher onthe 9th grade once told me of twins she met that were able to talk to each other through their minds perfectly, probably the strongest case of twin telepathy I've heard.

The thing is that the Olsen twins are actually not identical but fraternal twins. I have heard of identical twins having what she is describing but not fraternal. I have friends that are identical and they are very connected and when they were younger and would be sleeping their mother states that they would even roll over at the same time and into the same postion. So, it must not have anything to do with whether you are identical or fraternal. I wonder if siblings that are born very close together share a bond like this or if it seems to be strictly along the lines of twins.

I'm part of a twin, so I know exactly what they olsen twins are talking about...
my sister and I are extremely identical and very close... but I surely don't know what is going on in her mind...lol...
when she is angry, um, that is usually because I've made her angry, but twins are really not that fascinating, we are pretty normal... really...
and I hate it when people ask you "how does it feel to be a twin?" that is such a stupid question, how the hell does it feel not to be a twin...lol....

But twins are known to be more psychic... my sister is quite good in seeing futures and stuff and I'm good in seeing ghosts... so, there is more power...

yeah little dreamer, I've met plenty of twins inmy life, heck my best friends were twins till they had to go study in korea they must be in harvard right now that they're back, and they're not connected through their minds like myths say, although I have heard from people in real life (a teacher and someone else) that they've witnessed twins with the ability to communicate with each other through their minds? 'Tis still a myth to me till I see it =D

my twins are non identical and have a very strong link..they know when the other is hurt or worried about something..what happens to one also effects the other..they are boy and girl twins..so i dont think it matters if they are identical or not....

well, sometimes we dream about exactly the same stuff, details and everything....
one night we had been dreaming about an old brown castle, we both work there in the midevel times... maybe a past life back flash or something?
I guess some twins can link through their minds... but I'm not that lucky.....
but we do have a strong connection... and understand each other perfectly....

I think there is a connection between close family members, most notably in twins. Perhaps the process of sharing a womb for the first few months creates a link somehow that still exists after birth.

there is defenitaly a bond... you are closer when you are younger and almost like one person... everybody usually said that we are like one soul in two bodies, and some of the iodots said if you want to know how you looks the day, you can just look at your sister...lol...
but when you become older, you sort of grow apart, but you are still close... but things change.... a lot.....
but there will always be that special connection, not many siblings will share....
but trust me, being a twin is really hard sometimes... they do not see you as an own individual...
but it is fun sometimes....

I think you develop this kind of connection with anyone you spend a lot of time with, and twins develop it easily as they grow up under the same environments at the same time at the same age, I've also seen this kind of connection in love couples, Lots of'em, Interesting stuff.
