Did you ever find anything when you went to investigate it? All these places would be neat to check out but I have finish writing my murder mystery novel and sell it first.

we picked up some interesting EVPs (although I am more than a little skeptical about EVP) and some odd happenings while we were there, including a trained guard dog that refused to enter a particular part of the building.
I am hoping to go back in the next couple of weeks, before it gets totally knocked down (they are building houses on the site)

That says run for your life and pray that whatever the dog is afraid of won't follow you home.
Seriously though it is a shame that they are going to knock it down though.
But that is the way of progress I guess and hopefully you can go there one last time before it gets demolished.

not too much to tell so far, other than my friend who works there found someone who had commited suicide in the room, not nice.
there has been reports of noises and things moving, so we are going to rent a couple of rooms, set up the equipment in one and stay in the other

I would love to hear your results that is if you do not mind sharing them. I had found out that in the early 1900's a relative of my Grandfathers committed suicide in a hotel but I could not find out if the hotel was still there today.

A good one if you're ever in Pennsylvania is Dixmont mental hospital, it's been closed for years, but strange things seem to happen there after dark.

I wanted to say.
I work in a hospital (not an asylum)as night security, I know.......great job.
Anyways, at night I do rounds, checking to make sure that everything's quiet, and many times I'll hear footsteps behind me, I'll turn to see no-one there, and at other times I'll hear voices, or whispers around a corner, I'll turn the corner to see no-one there. It was a little unnerving at first, but I'm now used to it, and don't seem to notice it so much as I used to.

Out of curiosity does the hospital where you work have a morgue? I know a odd question but the hospital my Mother used to work had a old unused morgue and I could never walk past it. The vibes were to overwhelming and so I ran past it as fast as I could because the vibes freaked me out.
If it does have one do you feel anything when walking by?

hospital's are quite place's which at times can dramatize on minds of human beings. and mainly due to the fact of many demises in location.

The only asylum that I know of that's for sure haunted was once a sanitorium for turberculosis patients. It's called Waverly Hills Sanitorium and it's in Louisville, KY. There are some great links for the hospital.
http://www.waverlyhillstbsanatorium.com/http://www.prairieghosts.com/waverly_tb.htmlhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waverly_Hills_Sanatoriumhttp://photos1.ghostweb.com/csaint1.htmlThere's also a movie coming out February 28 that was shot inside the hospital and in March the documentary will be on the Sci-Fi channel. It was also featured on Fox's Scariest Places on Earth. Here's the links for the movie and documentary.
http://www.deathtunnel.com/http://www.deathtunnel.com/documentary.htmlI'd suggest checking them out...I can't wait for the movie and the documentary. I've been following the process for over a year now and hope to go on one of the Halloween tours this year.

I was going to mention Waverly but you already did.
There are many sanitariums and mental hospitals around the country which are closed down. Most have stories. It was a pity that the facility at Essex Mountain in New Jersey was demolished. Unless I'm mistaken, the famous one in Massachusettes (where Session Nine was filmed) is gone too. Many of these places are architectural masterpieces and probably should be protected due to their histories. If anybody decides to check out any of the abandoned ones, I'd recommend being very careful. Not only do they attract many weirdos, but they are repositories of all sorts of HAZMAT, such as asbestos. The tunnels beneath them can be especially hazardous. Don't forget some rope, a COUPLE of GOOD flashlights (I'd recommend Surefire or at least Xenon Cyclops) with extra batteries, a multi tool, latex gloves, leather work gloves, two or three good quality surgical masks. and...
Take note that I don't recommend checking them out, but I know some of y'all will.

I believe that some asylums are haunted, because back in like the 1800's they would put people in there because they were ugly (disformed or whatever the word is), or if they happened to be mentally retarded...maybe my lil bro should go there, he's hammering a cardboard box with a real hammer right now, and stabbing it with a screwdriver, they should write in their notes about him,
armed and dangerous....
I also just noticed he's talking to himself! I think there's something wrong with him

I know this is an olllllllllllllllllllllld post, but I was recently reintroduced to the most famous asylum/sanitorium in California. I'd discovered it a few years ago while I was living out there, read up on it a bit, then promptly forgot about it. Has anyone heard of Camarillo State Hospital? It is now part of the California State University system, the Channel Islands campus, but apparently the former residents still linger....
As a side note, it's one of at least two possible inspirations for the song Hotel California by the Eagles.
