FILMING: Museum in TV spectre-cle
SHADOWY figures and ghoulish goings on are all too common occurrences along the corridors of Peterborough Museum.
The museum's creepy past has become the stuff of local legend, so much so, that Living TV's Most Haunted team have visited the building to film the ghostly happenings.
The first sighting of a ghost was in 1931, by the Yarrow family, who were caretakers of the spooky former Georgian manor house in Priestgate, Peterborough.
Story has it that Mrs Yarrow went to lock its old creaking doors and discovered a young man gliding silently up the stairs.
Stuart Orme, who conducts the museum's ghost tours, said: "His footsteps were unnaturally loud, which was very odd, as she then realised he was, in fact, floating up the stairs.
"He reached the landing in front of her, walked through the doors right next to her, without opening them, and down the corridor, suddenly vanishing into thin air at the end."
During their visit, the TV crew of 15, led by presenter Yvette Fielding, hired mediums Derek Acorah and David Wells to hunt out the chilling ghosts.
Mr Orme said: "I have seen the ghost a couple of times, and there are always creaking noises going on in the museum. But I don't scare easily, and am used it now.
