Random bouts of sleep paralysis
Submitted by Adaleiss Rose
I had mentioned in one of my previous experiences that I spent a summer with my father and we were homeless. We joined a group that housed two families until they were able to live on their own. Well, this first part relates to this group.
During the day, the families would meet up at the Group Building and we\'d just chill until it was time to go. One hot summer day, this is where we were. My father was at work, my step-mother was in the next room doing our laundry and I was lying in the drawing on a chair (my feet were dangling over the arm rest). I was quite tired so I closed my eyes and decided I\'d take a short nap. I dozed off and had a very strange dream.
Never in my life before this point had I ever heard about The Old Hag. I also, never had Sleep Paralysis up until that point. In my dream I was looking for my sacred red candle (which did in fact exist). I was completely freaking out and when I finally found it, I went crazy. There were odd drawings and carvings in the wax and that set me into a rage. I began yelling and going off about my candle when I began to change.
I was no longer me, but something else. Something... utterly disgusting. Whatever she was, she was hideous. The irises of her eyes were blood-red, the whites were blood shot. Her teeth were rotted and broken and she looked like she could use a few tropical fruits as her gums were a nasty brown-purple color. Her hair was long and brown but was rather wiry and greasy, as well as missing chunks all about her scalp. If I had seen her in real life, I\'d had puked.
She was now the one screaming and there was pure hatred and evil in her eyes as she held up a disgustingly clawed hand. I woke with a start and found myself staring directly at the clock, watching the little seconds hand tick by each little dash, watched as minutes passed. I felt compelled to move and I tried, but to no avail. I could not move for the life of me.
Of course, I was a bit freaked out by this and I believe I could feel a slight pressure pushing down on me. I tried to call out my step-mother\'s name, but I could only get out a quiet wheeze. It was still daytime! I tried again to call for my step-mother, but still could not get anything out. Finally, I jumped up and raced into the next room, where my step-mother was still doing laundry and I told her all about what had just happened. I never knew what it was until one day I stumbled across it and began to read up on it. That\'s when I found out about the Old Hag. But I\'m certain that hideous creature was Her.
The second time this happened was much more intense I\'d say. I was home at this point, no longer with my father. I was sleeping on the couch that sits next to the kitchen and I was dreaming about an ex-boyfriend that I was still a wreck over. I dreamt he was a vampire and we were in this huge mansion-like building. The hallway was large with numerous doors aligning it and the floors were a shiny, glorious marble. He was ahead of me and walked through the door at the end of the hallway, after glancing over his shoulder for a split second. I began to run for him and fell, hitting my hands pretty hard against the floor.
What woke me from my sleep was the distinct sound of someone running into the livingroom. The first thing I thought was that my mother\'s boyfriend had gotten into an accident on his way to work and my mother was running out after him. My eyes snapped open, but no one was there. The room was pitch black. But I could still hear the running. Now, it sounded like a herd of buffalo were running past my ear and I could even feel myself vibrating as if there really were. I kept staring into the darkness and realized at that point that I could not move. I tried to move one finger at a time but could not. I attempted to call out for my mother, because I could hear her and her boyfriend talking in the bedroom. Nothing would come out, I couldn\'t even part my lips. I decided to pretend to be asleep in hopes that I would be released, so I closed my eyes. I began to feel myself sinking down into my couch and then I was finally able to move. I jumped up and ran out into the kitchen, flipped the light on and leaned against the counter while my heart beat slowed and I could breathe normally. It was then that I realized that I should have been able to see the soft light that shines through the window across the room. It was in my direct line of sight. I couldn\'t see anything. Just a dark figure blocking the window, but I remember seeing the soft light on the walls behind it. It completely obscured it from view. I laughed about it, told it that it gave me a good scare and went back to sleep.
