Hide & seek

My aunty and her only son were always moving. She was always taking 6 month leases, and for once, it paid off.
She moved into a beautiful, brand new, two-storey unit which was suspiciously low in rental price, considering how close it was to the main street.
There were many strange little things that happened while my mother and I stayed with them.
I recall a night my cousin and I were watching TV in the living room. We both saw a moving shadow move above the television, before it immediately switched off. The room was freezing cold. We argued over who must have sat on the remote - until we saw the remote sitting on the adjacent lounge, with nothing that could have pressed the buttons.
There was also an incident, where my cousin and I were told we weren\'t allowed to come downstairs until his bedroom (on the second storey) was clean. We packed everything away, and made our way down the stairs. Our mothers were so shocked that we had it done so quickly and insisted upon checking. They came back downstairs, angry that we\'d lied to them. We checked for ourselves and a toy basket we had just filled had been tip over on the floor.
But, the most memorable case for me, was when my cousin and I played hide & seek.
He always insisted on counting, he never wanted to hide, which was strange as it was usually the other way around. He started counting. I ran up the stairs, and into his mother\'s bedroom where I hid under her bed. The second I crawled under, the air around me turned freezing cold. The mirror against her wall began slightly fogging up, and I could feel the presence of someone lying next to me. Someone breathing in my ear. I ran downstairs to find my cousin hadn\'t come to look for me at all, but instead, was sitting beside an empty chair. Talking to it.
He had drawn strange pictures, spoken to invisible beings and seen people in that house.
All I found out, from my aunty, was that the units had been built on old land, where a very old house had been demolished.
She heard from a psychic that she had to take herself and her son out of there, for he was being taunted. That they were trying to get to him somehow. That there was a few presences that still haunted the land, the most prominent, a bad man.
She left the place happily when the lease was up. I would love to get a look back into the place, just to see if things are still as obviously paranormal as they were then, with the present tenants.
