Bed shaking
Submitted by Amanda
Last night ( 2/26/11 ) Around 12:50am my bed was shaking the worst it\'s ever been. It has me totally freaked out and feeling completly unsafe and afraid. I have to kids that I am now worried about. The bed shaking started Nov. 08, a week after my father passed away. I lived in an apartment complex and figured it was from someone doing laundry or running the dishwasher. A year ago I moved into a home at the middle a 2 mile long dead end road. Around me in nothing but farm land. The shaking got worse and I figured it to be my husband. But when he moved out for three months the shaking got worse and more frequent. NOBODY was home during this times not even my kids, So I wrote down the times when it happend and for three weeks didnt do laundry or dishwasher after 6pm. The shaking continued. I would check the earthquakes sites thinking maybe it\'s because of that and I find the closest earthqauke is i n southin Cali and usually a week before. The nearest railroads are about 30 miles away and I have no reason for this to be happening. When the shaking happens it\'s between 12 am and 2am. I always put my hand on the wall to feel if there\'s viberations and there is. My husband moved back in and we now have a dog that when the shaking starts he acts funny and wont leave my side. I cant figure out why this is happening, I know its not my mind cause I can feel it, and see it happening. Any thoughts on this and HOW TO MAKE IT STOP! Im afraid it\'s going to get worst since it seems to be getting stronger and stronger each time.

Okay. 1st off, how old are your children and of what sex? It could be Poltergeist activity, if you have a teenage daughter in the puberty years. They give off pent up psychic energy that can cause all SORTS of nasty phenomena to happen. Especially, if they are stressed out for any reason.. . 2ndly, it could indeed be a deceased relative trying to catch your attention. But, I would doubt it, as they would KNOW they were frightening you. . . Whatever the phenomena is, it seems to be attached to YOU specifically, since you have not indicated anyone else in the house experiencing it. . . Ask it to stop. Address it directly and firmly, and tell whatever it is, it is NOT welcome to disturb you. Sometimes, that simple acknowledgement of their presence is enough.. . Peace.
Evil. All. No Exceptions. Even your Mom. Ask your Dad.

I agree with most of the above commenter. Also a priest blessing you wouldn't hurt. It can be earthquakes also. Small quakes that you may be very sensitive to (like animals are). From your description it sounds like the vibrations you would feel if the washing machine was in spin cycle or a train was passing close. This description is a light vibration and may be ignored by most as nothing while it has caught your attention. Is it just your bed? or is chairs and other things around the house? always the same bedroom? has it happened in other locations? I hope the best for you and that you get peace in your life. and it doesn't always have to be a bad thing either.

Hmm... Well I really am not sure why it's following you, but I am not sure that it's too "nice" of a spirit, if that's what it is... (when I say that I don't mean you're lying I mean it's something that can be explained, which I have no clue of).Perhaps try using a Ouijia Board to see what is going on. .But be careful, please!!!!!! :o .DDB  .ps: hope it helps

I too have experienced my bed shaking at night. The first time was when I was about thirteen years old, and I am now 55years old and had my last experience at about 40 years of age. They always ocurred like yours just as I was getting comfortable, and always after closing my eyes to sleep, but mine was a little different as I always had the feeling that there was something extremely terrible there, and if I opened my eyes during the shaking that just the sight of what ever it was, was something to much for the brain to comprehend. My bed would not stop shaking in 30 seconds, but only after I called on Jesus to help me,calling his name over, and over again. Then it would stop, and I could open my eyes , my heart feels like it is beating 100 beats a minute,my eyes don't quite focus immediately and it is very frighting.Sometime (later in life) my husband would be right next to me but not feel a thing. I even moved 2,300 miles from my child hood home in Indiana to California, and still experienced this occurance for years. I tried telling others, but stopped after seeing no one believed me and maybe would think I was crazy. Even though I have not experienced this for a few years thinking about it still scares the crap out of me,. . I must add that I also experienced other types of hauntings as a child, and adult, mostly of the frightening kind, but a few bringing comfort. I tend to stay away from alleged haunted dwellings, because I first feel their presence and Iam usually the one they manifest their self to.Been trying to figure out for years what is wrong with me , and why me? But as far as the bed shaking I would tell you to envoke the name of Jesus during this occurance, and ask him to help you, he did for me and I know he will do the same for you.

First of all Amanda, stop worrying. This has gone on for a while and nothing "bad" has happened. Bed shaking is a very common thing, paranormally speaking. You said that this started soon after your father passed so the easy leap would be to assume that the spirit could be him, and since you have moved and you are still having the experience it would seem that the entity is attached to you. If its your da, he may not know any other way of getting your attention. Try talking to him. Tell him you love him and thank him for his visits. Then let him know that it disturbs you. Ask him to give you a different sign of his presence, something that will not scare you. After that, keep a log of anything that happens out of the "ordinary". Hopefully you will be able to resolve the situation.. . If the visitor is not your dad, the same thing applies, more or less. Ask them to stop scaring you. Ask for a gentler message. Or just to leave you alone all together. I hope you make peace with your visitor. . . Oh, and I would be remiss if I did not mention hynopompic/hypnogogic affects. Sometimes in the space between sleep cycles our brains and bodies can do some strange things. It could be that you are having totally mundane sleep disturbances. If the problem doesn't resolve and you can afford it, a sleep study might give you some insight into what is going on while you sleep. I couldn't hurt.

I've had our bed shaking on many occasions. I have put it off in the past to small earth tremors but after checking had to find an alternate explanation. It all fits in with the posting I just made. It's easy to say, "don't be afraid" but harder to do. You could try and view it as an exciting experience which it is or seek spiritual help. I'm just glad to see others have similar experiences to our/my own. You could tell the entity that it frightens you and if it could stop. It could be your dad trying to make himself known. When my dad died he "hung around" for a couple weeks, centering mostly around my mom. He would rest his hands on her shoulders imparting a great sense of peace. It helped us all get through the pain of separation. I hope all works out for you. It's pretty rare that people are injured with any paranormal experience, so I wouldn't worry too much that way. . Good luck to you. . cheers, . Errol

I am new to this site....and see these messages were back in March....but I wanted to add my experiences. I live in a house that is 5 years old. We had it built. From the start of living here, we've heard footsteps at night and had our beds shake. As you, I first thought it was either the garage door being opened or closed or the dryer. Then I noticed that I didn't have any laundry in the dryer at 5am. Ok, could be my hubby leaving for work. Nope, noticed at night the bed didn't shake when he came home. I also got out of bed to feel the wall...not shaking, just the bed. Then the footsteps started to get more frequent. I also had something sit on my bed behind me...thought it was one of my kids, looked and no one was there. Then the sightenings began. It turns out that our neighborhood was built on land that was once part of the Civil War battlefield. My kids have seen a little girl and a little boy. Also a soldier. I can not make out details like they can...I only see shadows. I am not one for believing in mediums, but had one come out after one of my neigbhors had her over (my house is not the only one that has spirits...I have many neighbors that have seen or experienced something)....well, I was sure not to say anything to this medium about us...and she said things about family members that no one would have known except for me. I came to find out that the little girl and boy like living here with us. They have fun here. The soldier died on this land with his brother (but he is not here). They all said they are only here to protect us and watch over us. We are at peace with them. The bed shaking still happens, but I am not freaked out any more. I just say "hi, go away", and they do. I hear the kids laughing and talking (most the times can't make out any words) and when I am home alone and here them I tell them to go somewhere else...and they do. . . It's nice to know that others have also experienced the bed shaking. It is scary! It seems in our case, once they knew we were aware of them and are ok with them, they don't try as hard to get our attention. Weird things still happen, but it's not scary any more.

Hello Josiegirl,. Sounds like to me that you do have friendly ghost, and youre lucky in that aspect, however your home being built over a battlefield, I think might leave you open to others not so friendly spirits, I would deff, get my home blessed just in case. . . I just buried my Mom this month, and Iam in my childhood home for a short spell (hopefully) trying to settle her estate. And I am still very uncomfortable being here again,Like your home I believe our home was also built over a war zone, I dont know this for a fact, but scary dreams about this house AND the house that was next door to ours, still seem to haunt me at times.. . I usually dream about being in the attic of the house next door, where everything is dark, and gloomy, with a sense of dread, there are skeletons sitting and standing everywhere in my dream, and I get the sense that they are soldiers. That house was tore down and my parents bought the empty lot,my father was turning over the dirt, to plant grass, and was pulling up tons of old clothes from the ground , no bones however just clothes, stuff not worn, in my days just kinda freaks me out.. . Still feel the presense of others in the house still to this day. Please get your house blessed just to be on the safe side, if the friendly kind can enter, so can others.

Sorry to hear about your mom. That's tough, especially with the holidays coming up. Very interesting about the clothes your father found...and a bit creepy! . . That was one of my concerns....did my house have some kind of portal in it. The medium said no. She also said that the soldier (Anthony) and the little girl (Macy) would not allow anything evil in our house. They were protecting us and they watch over us. My kids have seen the solider standing over them when they wake up. Like he's on guard duty. They are no longer afraid of him. I am Jewish and we don't really bless things. I have walked around my house with burning sage, which is supposed to remove negative energy. And, have walked outside the property lines with burning sage. She also said my grandmother is here and I know she wouldn't let anything evil in. When the medium spoke just like my grandmother, I was freaked out. She had an accent and there is no way the medium would have known that!. . The little girl loves to take things. So now if something is missing we just ask Macy to bring it back...and 90% of time she does bring it back. And, a few weeks ago my daughter was in the kitchen and a sharp knife slipped from the drying rack and was pointing out....she heard a voice telling her not to back up, she looked and saw the knife. If she backed up she could have been hurt. So it was looking out for her. . . This has been a journey. I feel bad for those that have horrible experiences. I also told my kids not to even think about bringing a Ouji board into this house. I think they are evil and don't want one near my house.
