"“WHAT’S HAPPENING?,” somebody asked me recently. “Why is there an explosion of interest in ghosts, paranormal phenomena, UFOs and psychic stuff? Is this a sign of things to come?”

Actually, this interest has been accelerating over the last 10 or 15 years. The media are full of stories and programs on those topics. Unfortunately, most of them are negative and seem to be made merely to scare people rather than provide a rational explanation for them. So the people’s natural curiosity for real phenomena is never satisfied. And last Halloween, more gore and outlandish horror movies and TV shows were shown.

I really can’t understand the appeal of these outrageous horror stories. I seldom go to such movies. Many of them are so unrealistic they are not even frightening.

Real ghosts are seldom seen in their horrifying appearance. With few exceptions, they appear to us in their normal, natural form. That the dead show up is scary enough. They do not have to put on outlandish"

Do you mean like the explosion of topics on this site?

Welcome Caeser!

To the Question - I think people fuel the need for paranormal related shows etc and the shows fuel the minds of interested people. They feed from one another.

Thanks, I love to talk about ghosts and hauntings and I've been interested in ghosts ever since I lived in a haunted house at the age of seven.

I tend to believe people are afraid because of the movies out there and also its something you cant explain how it happens.

Your right people are somtimes afraid of the things that cannot be explained, if not frightened, then they discount them as nonsense.

Fear of the unknown, taht's what it comes down to. I tend to think that most ghosts, if they do indeed exist, would be no different to people in real life.

That means they could be as nice as Casper the Friendly Ghost, or as annoying as Slimer, or possibly as evil as..... well, a really evil ghost.

But to play Devil's Advocate, one theory on ghosts, unless I misunderstand, is that a ghost hangs around because in human form they died very unexpectedly and they weren't ready to let go. Unexpected death, while possibly a natural death, is more likely a violent death, either at the hands of another human, or in a horrific fire/hurricane/drowning etc.

As such, it is possible that the ghost is out for revenge for their horrid death.

Regards, PA

Maybe in this day and age of computers and convenience, that subconcious little voice inside of everyone desires that we be scared by something that we still really dont understand or can 'control'? It is one of those realms that may be more possible to explore and understand as each day passes, and you don't have to be a scientist to accomplish it either. Your average joe in the street can delve into this field as much as the next man.

I personaly think that people personify their own fears onto this kind of stuff, hence the reason why people automatically swing to ghosts or spirits being scary or hostile.

Very True...

Although some ghost sightings look like real people... not opaque mist's but actual people walking into their lounge/kitchen or whatever. I think you'd proabably be moe offended people were in your house then scared of it, its only when these people disappear etc that people start to think and thats when they get scared...

Well it really depends... Thats why I always question spooky horror ghost movies, how do you know thats how we would react? I suppose the more sceptical person would try and dismiss it... and i suspect do so with ease?

" Is thier a heaven and hell and if so how long do i have to stay in hell for my sins "

and also

How do you become a Ghost?

The Human Body must die either through natural causes or an accident or whatever then the Spirit with all its intelligence goes to the Spirit World where it can revisit Earth and Channel through those who are receptive to speaking to them.

I have been speaking to spirits for 20-years now and no one will specifically speak to me about Heaven or Hell but once a Guide did show me a Place that I assume to be Heaven where people were walking about much like they did when they were here on Earth.

At that point in time they do not have a Human Body that was left on Earth but they are able to appear to us in a Physical Body much as they did on Earth so we recognize them but this is like a picture of them as they were when they Walked the Earth yet when they appear they have taken on the Physical body we would recognize.

I communicate with Spirits every day and most of them appear to me as they looked when I knew them when they Walked the Earth.

Hope you don't mind me writing like this but I am trying to help others to believe in the After Life and I want people not to be afraid of Dieing but don't rush towards death because once you arrive there its hard to get others to acknowledge you or listen to you because of their Fear of the Dead and their now ghostly state.

I will say if someone you knew died and you got along well they no doubt will treat you kindly when they revisit you.

But if by chance the Spirit you knew and you were enemies they may not be so kind when they revisit you and may in fact set out to terrify but most of them are kind and good just as they were when they walked the Earth.
