The Gibraltar Point lighthouse in Toronto, which is well known for its haunted reputation, is home to not only ghost stories, but also to an infamous murder mystery that has endured for over two centuries.

According to legend, in 1815 lighthouse keeper J.P. Radan Muller, who had been supplementing his income by brewing beer, was murdered by a group of soldiers who were garrisoned nearby.

The story goes that Muller had been supplying the men with beer for quite some time but had, for reasons unknown, made the rather ill-advised decision to pull out of the arrangement.

The soldiers, displeased with having their supply cut off, pursued Muller to the top of the lighthouse, struck him over the head and then threw his lifeless body over the side.

To this day his final resting place remains a complete mystery, however some say that his presence can still be felt within the walls of the lighthouse he tended for most of his life.
