When people learn my husband and I are restoring a plantation house that is nearly 200 years old, they have lots of questions.
Almost everyone wants to know if it is haunted.
The prior occupant certainly believed it was. As she was explaining mundane things to us like how to turn on the heat and when to put out the garbage, she casually added: "You know this house is haunted." She claims for several years to have heard the sounds of children at play, whispering and giggling. She said their antics kept her son awake at night and that her mother-in-law was afraid to sleep in the guest room. "But don't worry," she said. "They are friendly."
